Welcome to Sun God Archery’s first official blog post! We’re excited to start showcasing our club’s and team’s accomplishments, while also giving you guys a heads up about what the board is proposing and working on behind the scenes! We’re looking to keep you guys informed with updates on both previous and upcoming events, so check back often to get the coolest, most relevant news on this side of the field!
Highly Scored Highlights
Looking back, so much has happened this quarter! The workshops were a massive success (maybe too much of a success). We’ve had so many of you come out to visit the club and try out our equipment. Thank you to those who decided to stick around and join the club! We’re looking at hosting another set of workshops at the beginning of winter quarter, so if you’re a member who wants to help bulk up our numbers, we’d love your helping in getting new members to join us!
Afterwards, the Sun God Archery Alumni Association’s Bonfire was a smashing success! It was great to see club members both old and new come together, meet, and share a fabulous BBQ meal! The SGA Alumni Association helps out immensely with various aspects of the club. They’re always looking to bolster their numbers to continue to assist SGA, so don’t forget to apply to continue to be a part of the ever-growing archery family!
Now, we can’t forget the fun we all had at the Halloween Shoot! Thanks to our incredible social chair Janae Zhang, the Halloween shoot went incredibly smoothly. Our archers became Monster Hunters™ for the night, empowered by the possibility of prizes and candy, while all dressed in various outstanding costumes! We’re excited to see everyone again next year in their scariest get-up (remember, coming to the field right after getting out of bed doesn’t count!)
Congrats to everyone who qualified during the SIACC qualifier! On Saturday, November 3, SGA hosted the first 2019 SIACC Qualifier on our field, with over 40 participants! Afterwards, we had a blast with everyone doing archery tag! Everyone continued to qualify thereafter, and now our team has grown to the biggest it’s ever been!
Thanks to everyone who came to the Officer Meet and Speaker Event. There we learned the importance of the steps of Theory of Change, which helps organizations set up their mission and establish what’s important to them. Afterwards we had Ken Lane come and speak about the importance of established values and ensuring that we as people are following those with every action we take! Don’t forget to find what’s important to you and keeping that close to your heart.
Don’t forget to purchase your gifts for the White Elephant Gift Exchange! Go out and buy the perfect $20ish present for that perfect somebody that you don’t know! It’s a great way for the club to bond over food, fun, and sabotage as we fight over the last Eevee plushie. The Gift Exchange is happening January 26th, so be sure to grab your gift over winter break!
Don’t forget the NTS Shot Process:
3) Hook and Grip
10) Release/Follow Through
