THE 2026 BOARD OF OFFICERS
President
alexander tellez
Hi I’m Alexander, short for Alex! I’m an MS NanoEngineering major specializing in biomedical sciences from Revelle College. I started shooting when I was 13 on a JOAD team but had to quit due to unexpected carpal tunnel, but I’m back. I’ve rediscovered my love for archery here at Sun God Archery and have begun actively competing recently. Everyone at Sun God Archery makes me feel welcome, and like I’m a part of one big family. As your President, I'm working behind the scenes to make sure the club and comps can run as smoothly as possible. If you have any questions about compound or want some coaching, please ask. If you see me on the field or off all serious, please don’t be afraid to approach me; I promise I’m friendly.
vice president
tanya lee
hello! I'm Tanya, a 2nd-year Bioengineering graduate student and your vice president this year! I first learned of the existence of collegiate archery during my undergrad at UCLA (go bruins), but didn't get a chance to actually try it until I joined SGA last year, and immediately fell down the rabbit hole. As vice president, I am primarily responsible for general club logistics and managing club membership, so don't let me catch you shooting without a membership 👀 /jk. I have a wide range of interests, including a strong interest in yapping, so please don't hesitate to engage me in conversation, online or on the field. Looking forward to both shooting arrows and shooting the breeze with everyone!
team captain
valerie huang
Hi!! I'm Valerie, and I am a second-year General Biology major in Seventh College. I have never done archery before coming to UCSD, but I wanted to give it a shot in my freshman year (pun intended). I ended up staying because I found a community full of whimsy and joy that I loved being a part of. My favorite part about SGA is a tie between finally touching grass at practice after being stuck in lab and classes, or sitting in a car on the way to a competition and talking everyone else's ear off. As one of your team captains this year, I will be responsible for weekly team practices and competition logistics. I love yapping almost as much as I love archery, so don't be afraid to start a conversation with me! Looking forward to meeting everyone soon!
TEAM CAPTAIN
samuel cho
Hey, hi, howdy! I'm Sam, and I'm a Bioengineering: Bioinformatics super senior in Marshall College and older than you could ever know. I actually got my start in archery in a brief stint with SGA back in 2014, but really grew to love it when I came back to shoot with the club last year. The club has grown so much and come so far, and I couldn't be prouder to be SGA's team captain this year. We had such a strong competitive showing last year with such incredibly high highs, and I am truly so excited to see everyone perform and improve again this year, both members new and old. I really do love archery. I love this sport. I love this team. SGA is truly something special, and I mean this from the bottom of my heart. So come yap with us. Discover your passion for archery!
treasurer
ivy tang
Hello!! I’m Ivy, a second-year Mechanical Engineering major and Cognitive Science minor in Warren. I’ve started my archery journey with SGA! I never touched a bow in my life until last year. I ended up staying because I realized I had already spent too much money to leave, whoopsies… but in all honesty, I really stayed because of the community within SGA. I was able to find people who I could call my second family. My favorite part about SGA is traveling to competitions; you never really know what you’ll expect since it’s a whole new experience every time. If you see me on the field, feel free to ask me anything; I’m always happy to help!
social chair
lindsay moreno
Hi!!! My name is Lindsay, a 2nd-year Molecular Biology major in Revelle. I have loved archery ever since I watched the movie Brave, and my favorite Disney princess was Merida! My journey and commitment with SGA really were all because of the amazing community. Every day on the field or at competitions, I enjoy chatting and meeting new people, and I always find myself happy to just be there. Don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions, and don’t worry about any judgment! As Social Chair, it is my joy to establish whimsy and joy in everyone so you can socialize and feel welcomed here at SGA!
Facilities manager
russell wong
Hi everyone, I'm Russell! I am a 4th-year Cognitive Science major and Philosophy minor at Muir. I started archery just last year here at SGA, after transferring from community college, and have had a great time shooting and meeting new people. In fact, I loved it so much that I now have the honor of being your guys' FM this year! Please feel free to reach out to me for anything at all. I'm very excited to be able to shoot with you all!
technical operations manager
dani gonzalez
Hi! I’m Dani, a PhD candidate in Bioengineering and your Technical Operations Manager this year! I started archery with SGA in 2024 and quickly fell in love with the sport, eventually deciding to start shooting recurve more competitively the following year. Since then, I’ve really enjoyed getting more involved with the competitive side of archery while also learning more about the technical and equipment side of the sport. One of my favorite parts of SGA is getting to help new archers learn and improve, discussing equipment with other members, and helping people figure out what works best for them. As your Technical Operations Manager, I’ll be in charge of setting up equipment for club members and making sure everyone has what they need to get started. If you see me at practice, feel free to come say hi, ask a question, or talk equipment with me! I’m looking forward to another great year with SGA and getting to know everyone!
director of external affairs

Hi! I'm Matthew, and I'm a second-year Human Bio major in Seventh. I started archery last year as a beginner here at SGA. Here at the club, I've made a lot of connections with new people and have really developed a love for the sport. The community here is super supportive and fun, and the club is at its all-time peak activity. My favorite part about SGA is going to the competitions and travelling with our team. As XA, I'll be planning our fundraisers throughout the year, so hopefully you guys check them out! You can find me at the field most days if school feels merciful, so feel free to ask questions.
