The 2025 Board of Officers

Justin Hyon,
President

Hello everyone! I'm Justin, a PhD student in bioengineering, and I'm your president for this year! I started archery in 2012 when I was in middle school, and immediately fell in love with the sport. After shooting competitively in high school with HSS Archery Club in Irvine, CA, I wasn't able to shoot during undergrad, but I'm very happy to be back now with SGA. I’m super excited for this year’s competitive season, and hope to see you guys at practice!

Aden Wong,
Vice President

Hi, I’m Aden, a fourth-year mechanical engineering major in sixth. I started shooting during high school and have been shooting since then. Before coming to UCSD I rarely competed but now here I’ve really enjoyed going out and competing along with other club members and just having fun. If you see me on the field please don't hesitate to come say hi! I look forward to seeing everyone this year!

Lindsey Vermeulen,
Team Captain

Hello! My name is Lindsey and I am a fourth-year Chemical Engineering major in Muir College. My whole life I’ve done competitive sports, and when I came to UCSD my freshman year and saw a flyer for SGA Archery, I just knew I had found my place. I’ve loved learning the sport and meeting amazing people over the past three years. I’m so excited to meet all you new amazing people this year! As one of your team captains, I will manage our weekly team practices as well as all competitions throughout the year. I love a good chat, so feel free to strike up a conversation on the field, archery-related or otherwise. I’m so siked for another great year of archery!

Kyle Canturia,
Team Captain

Hey! My name is Kyle, and I am a fourth-year human bio major in sixth. I first started archery as a kid, and after a very long hiatus I am back shooting! I started getting back into things last summer, and after finding out we had a club on campus I wanted to join and find out more. This past year has brought me many great and happy memories, things I’d love to share with new members! Just as the club has given me so much, I aim to give back as well. As one of your team captains, I hope to serve you all and cultivate a competitive spirit and support everyone in their archery journey! I love getting to know our members, so if you see me on the field feel free to come up to me and talk about anything. Hope to see you all soon!!

Jacob Takesuye,
Treasurer

Hi! I’m Jacob and I’m a fourth-year Cognitive Science ML major in sixth college. I first started archery in my backyard because my dad liked archery hunting and got me a bow to practice with him. However, I really started shooting once I joined SGA and found my groove both as an archer and a member of the club. I love coming to practices to destress after hours of classes and homework, and love chatting with everyone on the field. Feel free to strike up a conversation with me on the field! I enjoy getting to know everyone and I hope to see you soon!

Kei Shimabukuro,
Social Chair

Hi I’m Kei! A second-year Speculative Design major in Marshall college. I first started archery in elementary school alongside my sister, and have been shooting competitively throughout middle school and high school, and now in college. Although I didn’t particularly enjoy shooting in high school, when I joined SGA during my first year at UCSD, I discovered my love for archery all over again through the lovely community. I especially enjoyed team events at competitions, since it brings people together in a sport that is so individual, and gives the opportunity to meet people from other schools. As your social chair, I hope to grow the community that I fell in love with at SGA with fun social events, theme shoots, and activities! I hope to see you all on the field!

Alexander Tellez,
Facilities Manager

Hi I’m Alexander short for Alex! I’m a fourth-year BS/MS NanoEngineering major in Revelle College. I started shooting when I was 13 on a JOAD team but had to quit due to unexpected carpal tunnel but I’m back. I’ve rediscovered my love for archery here at Sun God Archery and have begun actively competing recently. Everyone at Sun God archery makes me feel welcome and like I’m a part of one big family. As your equipment manager, I want to stress the importance of having fun in a safe manner. Hoping to keep everything as organized as possible and everyone’s equipment in as prime condition as possible. If you see me on the field all serious please don’t be afraid to approach me I promise I’m friendly. I hope to see y’all on the field.

Sriveena Veerapaneni,
Director of External Affairs

Hey! I’m Sriveena, and I’m a fourth-year double majoring in Neurobio and Business Psych. My first time shooting was in middle school when my friend introduced me to an archery club back in Virginia. I eventually joined the JOAD team and shot on and off for several years. Sun God archery was the first club I joined at UCSD, and it is by far my favorite. The community here is very supportive and fun, and the club is very active. I feel like this club has made me love archery even more. My favorite part is probably our tournament days where we get to travel with our teammates to shoot for the whole day, hopefully medal, and celebrate with a meal after. As XA, I’ll be planning a couple of fundraisers throughout the year, so I hope to see u guys there! Also, if u see me on the field, I’m always happy to help, so feel free to come say hi or ask a question!

Daniel Borrayo,
Director of Information Technology

Hi! I’m Daniel, and I’m a second-year Math - Computer Science major in Seventh College. I first started archery just last year at a beginner workshop here at SGA. Within the first few weeks I had become hooked on the sport and loved interacting with our amazing community and feeling so supported to just genuinely do my best and have fun. Even though I had done previous competitive sports, none come close to how much fun I’ve had shooting alongside friends, travelling to competitions, and going to social events. As your Director of IT, I aim to ensure that our website and other forms of communication are up to date and ensure that you are always in the know of what’s happening in and outside of the club. Lastly, feel free to come up and say hi or give me a fist bump, I’d love to talk to you and get to know you more! See y’all on the field!
