Owen first started archery during the first week of his freshman year at UCSD, however his interest in Sun God Archery actually began years earlier when he first toured UCSD at the age of fourteen and noticed the club. Seeing a flier during his first week on campus brought that memory back and with his curiosity reignited he decided to check it out. What began as simple curiosity quickly turned into a meaningful part of his college experience, and archery became something he consistently looked forward to throughout his time at UCSD.

One of Owen’s fondest archery memories was attending SIACC for the first time. It was through this experience where he truly saw how tight-knit the archery community is. Archers from all over the state came together, and people mingled easily across schools, creating an incredibly welcoming atmosphere. His favorite moment of the entire event was during the chants for the smaller competitions, it felt like SGA completely took over the room, and that sense of unity and school spirit was what truly hooked him.

After graduating, Owen plans to continue his education by attending either medical school or PA school. His time in archery has taught him the importance of community, involvement, and putting himself out there, lessons that will stay with him long after college. We wish Owen the best in his future academic and professional pursuits and hope his time with SGA continues to inspire him wherever he goes.
